Emissions Comparison
How It Works
This calculator compares the carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from using a petrol bike versus an electric bike. The calculations are based on your daily travel distance, vehicle efficiency, and your local grid’s carbon intensity.
Petrol Bike Emissions
Petrol vehicles emit approximately 2.3 kg of CO₂ per liter of fuel burned. This includes both direct emissions and well-to-tank emissions.
EV Bike Emissions
Electric vehicles produce zero direct emissions. Their carbon footprint depends on the electricity source used for charging.
Carbon Sequestration
A mature tree can absorb about 22 kg of CO₂ per year. Your carbon savings can be expressed in terms of equivalent trees needed to absorb that amount of CO₂.
